Accenture & OpenAI partner to accelerate enterprise AI rollout
Accenture has entered a significant collaboration with OpenAI, aiming to deepen the use of advanced artificial intelligence within enterprise settings. The agreement will see tens of thousands of Accenture professionals provided with ChatGPT Enterprise, integrating the system across consulting, operations, and delivery services.
AI deployment
The partnership positions OpenAI as one of Accenture's main AI providers. The relationship is intended to support both firms in driving adoption of agentic AI systems across a wide range of industries. Accenture will apply OpenAI technologies to serve client needs, spanning sectors such as financial services, healthcare, government, and retail.
Accenture teams will use ChatGPT Enterprise internally and in client projects to accelerate business workflow transformation and automate legacy processes. The company intends to fast-track AI upskilling for its employees through direct access to OpenAI models and new certification schemes, resulting in what it claims will be the world's largest pool of OpenAI-certified professionals.
Flagship programme
The companies are launching a flagship enterprise AI programme which merges OpenAI enterprise products with Accenture's sector and functional expertise. The programme will offer latest implementation guides, security practices, and use case resources to help enterprise clients adopt AI technologies into their operations. This includes integrating OpenAI's evolving models and workflow tools, such as AgentKit, with the goal of speeding up the design and deployment of bespoke AI agents for critical functions including customer service, supply chain management, finance, and human resources.
Clients will have the opportunity to work with Accenture on building, testing, and rolling out custom AI agents that are designed to automate business operations and enhance decision-making.
Scaling capability
The strategic relationship also focuses on supporting OpenAI's own business infrastructure. Accenture will collaborate on the design and delivery of scaled front- and back-office functions, embedding OpenAI technologies into enterprise processes. Accenture will apply its delivery reach and process management skills to help OpenAI extend its services into global markets and sector verticals.
Upskilling is a central pillar of the collaboration, with Accenture committed to disseminating OpenAI certifications across its workforce. The firm says embedding new AI skills will directly support its ability to advise clients on large-scale and complex AI implementation initiatives.
Market impact
Both organisations say the programme is tailored for rapid large-scale deployment of agentic AI within corporate environments. Areas of focus include increasing automation, enhancing productivity, and strengthening workflows for enterprise clients. The structure of the programme is designed to enable quicker and broader adoption of AI-driven solutions in established industries.
The initiative comes at a time of increasing demand for enterprise-grade AI, with global firms seeking to integrate generative and agent-based systems across core business areas.
"By combining OpenAI breakthrough technologies with Accenture's deep industry and functional expertise and global delivery capabilities, we will accelerate enterprise reinvention and business outcomes for our clients," said Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO, Accenture.
"Accenture plays an important role in helping companies adopt the technologies that define each new era, and we're excited to partner with them to accelerate the AI transformation of the largest enterprises," said Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications, OpenAI.
