Animoca Brands launches AliBAE with CHECK bounty rewards

Wed, 1st Apr 2026

Animoca Brands has launched AliBAE, a build-and-earn platform for AI-assisted content and application creation, with 100,000 CHECK in bounty rewards across two opening campaigns.

Available in early access, AliBAE uses Alibaba's Qwen models and lets brands post creative briefs while rewarding creators whose work performs well against campaign criteria and community response.

The launch puts Animoca Brands at the intersection of generative AI, token-based incentives and the creator economy. Through the built-in AliBAE Studio, creators can make videos, applications and other content from prompts tied directly to each bounty brief.

Under the model, brands set a reward pool in CHECK and invite submissions through competitive campaigns. Rewards are allocated based on a mix of engagement metrics and internal judging, depending on the campaign.

Opening campaigns

The first two campaigns are from Animoca Minds and King's Gambit, each offering 50,000 CHECK. Animoca Minds is Animoca Brands' cloud-based AI platform for persistent sovereign AI agents, while King's Gambit is a chess survival mobile game developed by Anichess.

The Animoca Minds campaign calls for a 20-second AI-generated video showing how personal AI agents can change daily life. Entries are scored using a blended system: 50% community engagement and 50% quality assessment.

King's Gambit is offering rewards for ten winning entries of short-form video content based on the game. That campaign ranks submissions by judging quality scores.

AliBAE Studio is intended to lower the barrier to entry for new creators by loading each brief as a creation prompt within the platform. Animoca Brands presents this structure as a way to reduce production complexity for users with limited technical experience.

Qwen link

The platform is built on Alibaba's Qwen model family, which has gained broad use in the open-source AI market. Animoca Brands cited Hugging Face figures showing more than 700 million downloads of Qwen models and more than 180,000 derivative models created by developers.

This gives Animoca access to a widely used model suite as competition intensifies over the tools underpinning consumer-facing AI products. It also reflects how blockchain-linked businesses are combining token incentives with mainstream AI infrastructure rather than relying solely on crypto-native systems.

The CHECK token sits at the centre of the platform's reward structure. It already supports in-game economies, merchandise and governance across the Checkmate Ecosystem, a blockchain-based network of strategy games.

One of those projects is Anichess, developed in partnership with Chess.com, which has more than one million players. With AliBAE, Animoca is extending CHECK's role beyond gaming into creator rewards and application building.

Creator economy

Animoca Brands is positioning the platform as a response to uneven pay dynamics in digital content markets. It pointed to estimates valuing the global creator economy at USD $254.4 billion in 2025, rising to USD $2,084.57 billion by 2035, while arguing that revenue remains concentrated among a relatively small group of creators.

It also argued that many digital and Web3 reward systems have historically favoured activity volume or task completion over the quality of the work produced. AliBAE aims to tie rewards more closely to output and audience response.

AliBAE enters a crowded market for AI creation tools, but its campaign-based token rewards give it a different commercial structure from subscription-led platforms. The key question is whether brands will see enough value in funding bounty pools and whether creators will view token rewards as sufficiently liquid and predictable.

CHECK was recently added to Coinbase's listing roadmap, a step that may increase visibility for the token among market participants. That could help support interest in a platform where rewards are denominated entirely in CHECK rather than fiat currency.

Chevan Tin, Head of Anichess and Senior Manager of Operations and Projects at Animoca Brands, outlined the rationale behind the platform.

"Many digital reward systems prioritize participation volume over the quality of contributions. AliBAE is designed to take a different approach by linking rewards more directly to the work created and how well it is received. By combining Qwen Studio's accessibility with CHECK as an on-chain reward mechanism, we aim to give creators and builders a more practical way to participate and earn," Tin said.
