Ecommpay auction raises over EUR €7,200 for Street Child

Ecommpay has raised more than €7,200 for the children's charity Street Child after an internal charity auction beat its fundraising target and set a company record for bids.

The colleague-led auction brought together staff across the company's offices, with employees donating items and experiences for others to bid on. Held shortly before Christmas 2025, it generated €2,405 in bids, surpassing the previous year's total.

Company support, plus a personal contribution from Chief Executive Aleex Sjarki, lifted the final donation to €7,215. The money was directed to Street Child through its Education Interrupted campaign.

Auction lots

The highest-priced lot was a hiking experience with Sjarki, bought for €250 by Ecommpay's HR team. Consultations were the most popular category, with a public speaking masterclass selling for €80.

Other lots included handmade jewellery, gift hampers, artwork, and a range of wellness and learning experiences. Contributions drew on colleagues' hobbies and skills, with donations coming from staff at different levels of the organisation.

Ecommpay described the auction as its annual charity fundraiser and its second colleague-driven fundraising event. It did not disclose how many bids were placed or how many lots were offered.

Charity focus

Street Child works in more than 20 low-income and disaster-affected countries, including Afghanistan, Ukraine and Somalia. It focuses on barriers that prevent children from being safe, attending school and learning.

Its programmes include emergency aid and mental health support. It also builds schools, trains teachers, reunites families and supports livelihoods. The charity works to get out-of-school children into education, often through local partner organisations and larger agencies.

Ecommpay's donation was made through Street Child's Education Interrupted campaign, which includes match-funding that the charity said doubles the value of contributions.

Street Child linked the campaign to pressure on education budgets within aid spending. A charity spokesperson said funding reductions risk pushing more children out of school in places already affected by conflict and climate disasters.

"Ecommpay's donation will make a real difference to children whose education is being interrupted by recent cuts to global aid. A 25% drop in education funding could push an additional 6 million children out of school, with these cuts landing on vulnerable children already living through profound disruptions including conflict and climate disasters."

Company context

Ecommpay, headquartered in London, operates a payments platform offering acquiring and payment processing services. Founded in 2012, it offers access to more than 100 payment methods, according to company information.

The company also provides payment orchestration and supports recurring billing and direct debit payments, accessible through a single API.

Ecommpay said it is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Payment Services Regulations 2017. It also said it is a principal member of Mastercard and Visa, and that its payment platform has PCI DSS Level 1 certification.

Corporate donations and colleague fundraising have become a common feature of employer engagement strategies in the financial technology sector. Auctions are also used for internal fundraising because they can combine social activity with fundraising and encourage participation across departments.

For Street Child, the donation adds to funding the charity said will help sustain education provision in vulnerable settings, including keeping schools operating and maintaining staffing levels.
