Guardsquare has opened its first Asia-Pacific office in Singapore, giving the mobile application security company a physical base in a region where revenue has been growing by 50% year on year.

The office, at Suntec Tower 2, will house sales, technical support and solutions engineering teams. It will support customers in financial services, healthcare, retail, government and other sectors across Asia-Pacific.

Guardsquare already serves more than 200 organisations across Asia. The Singapore operation will act as its regional centre for customer support and technical work related to mobile application and API security.

The expansion comes as digital services continue to spread across Southeast Asia, particularly in payments and mobile commerce. Rising use of mobile banking, digital wallets and multi-service apps is increasing demand from companies seeking to protect applications against tampering, reverse engineering and fraud.

The Singapore office is Guardsquare's first physical presence in Asia-Pacific and its seventh office worldwide. The company is also hiring locally for sales, marketing and engineering roles.

Representatives from Singapore's Economic Development Board, the Belgian Embassy and Flanders Investment & Trade attended the opening. Regional partners, customers and local business figures were also present.

Roel Caers, Chief Executive Officer of Guardsquare, linked the move to the region's position in the mobile economy.

"The Asia Pacific region is operating at the frontier of the global mobile economy, with organizations building increasingly sophisticated, high-value applications that their users rely on every day," said Roel Caers, Chief Executive Officer of Guardsquare.

"As the market leader in mobile application security, our presence in Singapore ensures regional developers have direct access to the most comprehensive security available, so they can build, release, and defend their mobile apps with confidence," he said.

Regional demand

Singapore has become a common base for technology and cybersecurity groups managing Southeast Asian operations. Its appeal rests on its regulatory environment, access to regional markets and concentration of multinational companies and financial institutions.

For Guardsquare, the new office brings staff closer to banks, fintech groups, retailers and public sector customers facing tighter scrutiny of digital security. Businesses in those sectors are increasingly expected to safeguard customer data, prevent fraud and maintain application integrity as more services move onto smartphones.

The local presence is also intended to strengthen support for Guardsquare's regional partner network. The company works with partners across Asia-Pacific to supply products including DexGuard, iXGuard, AppSweep, App Attestation and ThreatCast.

Philippe Cazaubon, APAC Managing Director at Guardsquare, said the office would help the company stay closer to customers and channel partners.

"Proximity to our customers and partners is paramount in cybersecurity," said Philippe Cazaubon, APAC Managing Director at Guardsquare.

"Organisations across the region are navigating dynamic regulatory environments and increasingly sophisticated threat landscapes. Establishing our direct presence in Singapore allows us to deepen our relationships across the local ecosystem, collaborate more closely with our channel network, and deliver responsive, in-region support to help organizations protect their mobile innovations and revenue stream," he said.

Singapore's Economic Development Board welcomed the investment and pointed to the city-state's role as a regional base for international companies.

"Guardsquare's decision to establish its first APAC office in Singapore reflects our role as a trusted base for companies to drive growth in the region. The expansion is a valuable addition to our vibrant cybersecurity ecosystem, and we look forward to partnering with Guardsquare in creating opportunities for local talent and delivering impactful solutions across the region," said Soo Haw Yun, Vice President of Global Enterprises at the Singapore Economic Development Board.

The regional expansion follows broader global growth and a customer base of more than 1,000 organisations worldwide. In Asia, the focus now turns to staffing the Singapore office and using it as a hub for sales, technical support and engineering work related to mobile app security.
