Heidi raises USD $65 million to expand AI tool for clinicians

Mon, 6th Oct 2025

Heidi has secured USD $65 million in Series B funding, raising its valuation to USD $465 million and bringing total funding to nearly USD $100 million.

The funding round was led by Point72 Private Investments with additional participation from Blackbird, Headline, and Latitude, the growth fund of Phoenix Court. Heidi's technology is used by clinicians across Australia, including within both private practice and public health systems such as Monash Health and Queensland Health Children's Hospital.

AI in healthcare

The newly raised funds are set to accelerate Heidi's development of an artificial intelligence care partner for clinicians, automating administrative tasks such as clinical documentation, evidence searches, and follow-up communications. Recent studies have highlighted that clinicians often spend nearly as much time on administrative duties as they do on patient care, putting pressure on the system and its workforce.

Heidi has reported that in an 18-month period, it has saved clinicians almost 19.7 million hours of administrative work on a global scale. During this time, the platform supported over 73 million patient consultations and now processes more than two million consults weekly across 110 languages and 116 countries.

Dr Thomas Kelly, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Heidi, said:

"It is untenable that healthcare demand continues to rise while clinical time continues to shrink. Building a sustainable healthcare system requires expanding clinical capacity without compromising clinician wellbeing or patient safety. That's why I founded Heidi: to build an AI Care Partner that stands alongside clinicians, empowering them to deliver the care to which they have dedicated their lives."

Heidi's adoption has stretched beyond Australia. Tens of thousands of clinicians from over 200 medical specialties now use the platform to reduce their administrative burden.

International reach

Heidi will use the new funding to expand its team and establish further office locations and local support in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. The company is also aiming to build on existing uptake among clinicians in France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

In the UK, Heidi has been selected by the Modality Partnership for what it describes as the largest deployment of ambient AI in the country, including with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Pilots are underway with NHS Trusts across the North West London Acute Provider Collaborative-serving approximately 2.2 million people-and One LSC, the group of five NHS Trusts in Lancashire and South Cumbria, covering nearly 1.8 million people.

Heidi is also active in the United States, including partnerships with Beth Israel Lahey Health, the largest hospital network in Massachusetts, and MaineGeneral, one of the largest hospital operators in Maine. In Canada, it is the official choice of the Yukon Government. In New Zealand, the Ministry of Health has endorsed Heidi as one of two healthcare AI providers approved for trial in the public health system.

Australian public sector usage includes Monash Health-serving 1.6 million people across 40 facilities, including seven hospitals-and Queensland Health Children's Hospital and Health Service, which provides tertiary-level care and specialist programs for young people.

Backers and commentary

Sri Chandrasekar, Managing Partner at Point72 Private Investments, which led the funding round, commented:

"We believe administrative burden is contributing to clinician burnout and capacity challenges across healthcare systems. Heidi's platform has the potential to meaningfully improve how clinicians manage their administrative workflows. We're impressed by the adoption rates they've demonstrated within health systems and are excited to support their vision of expanding healthcare capacity while preserving the human touch in patient care."

Michael Tolo, Partner at Blackbird, added:

"Amongst the discussion on quantifying the productivity benefit of AI, Heidi stands out for its tangible and meaningful impact. Heidi is saving clinicians over an hour each day and supporting more than 2M consults a week, which alone gives the company line of sight to increase the capacity of our healthcare system by 10%. This growth has excitingly been driven by the hard working doctors Heidi exists to support, who have fallen in love with the product and championed it to the global stage."

Ferdi Sigona, Partner at Latitude, observed:

"What we're witnessing with Heidi in the UK's NHS isn't just fast growth, it's a clinician-led movement. When doctors themselves are championing a tool so passionately - from individual practices to major NHS Trusts serving millions of patients - you know we're backing a company with universal appeal across healthcare. We're thrilled to be doubling down on Heidi alongside new and existing investors, and are convinced the team's success so far is only the beginning."

Taylor Brandt, Partner at Headline, noted:

"Heidi is redefining the medical AI market with a bold and distinctive approach. What truly sets them apart is their commitment to customisation over clunky integrations, a global-first vision, and the ambition to build a product-led business from Australia that has clearly resonated across other markets globally. As early backers in Heidi, we're thrilled to double down on our investment as they expand their impact to clinicians worldwide."

Leadership changes

Heidi also announced new executive appointments. Paul Williamson has been named Chief Revenue Officer, and Dr Simon Kos will serve as Chief Medical Officer.

Paul Williamson, previously Head of Revenue at Plaid, said:

"During my career, I've chosen to work with companies that have transformed their respective industries - from Salesforce in customer relationship management to Plaid in financial services. Today, I join Heidi's mission to redefine healthcare in the age of AI."

Dr Simon Kos, former Chief Medical Officer of Microsoft, commented:

"With Heidi by their side, clinicians not only improve their experience of delivering care but the patients' experience of receiving it. Heidi's bold vision extends beyond the current promise of ambient voice technology and into a future where every clinician can leverage AI to expand their clinical capacity while protecting the human touch in healthcare."

Consultation and time-savings data

According to recent figures, between February and September 2025, Heidi supported 73 million consults globally. As of the end of September 2025, weekly usage included over 847,000 consults in Australia, 341,880 in the UK, 433,149 in Canada, and 356,926 in the United States. Cumulatively, the platform has enabled the saving of 19.68 million administrative hours worldwide. In Australia, the hours saved reach 8.99 million, while Canada and the United States account for 3.3 million and 4.27 million saved hours respectively, and the UK 2.96 million.

The use of time-and-motion studies is cited as a research method for objectively quantifying time savings, allowing direct comparison across settings and changes in technology over time.
