Intuit names Xero veteran Matthew Miles to lead APAC
Intuit has appointed Matthew Miles as Head of Product for APAC, adding a former Xero executive to its regional leadership team.
After seven years at Xero, Miles will oversee product strategy across Asia Pacific. His role will centre on adapting Intuit's broader platform to regional market needs, including local regulatory and operating requirements.
The appointment comes as Intuit increases its investment in Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific market, focusing on QuickBooks, Mailchimp, and its artificial intelligence products for small and medium-sized businesses and accounting firms.
Miles brings more than two decades of product leadership experience. Alongside Xero, he has held roles at Origin Energy, Telstra and Jetstar.
Intuit has recently expanded its product offering in Australia, launching Intuit AI for local small and medium-sized businesses across accounting, finance, customer management, projects and GST compliance. The tools are designed to automate bookkeeping, transaction categorisation and financial summaries.
It also introduced its AI-native Accountant Suite in Australia, bringing together client management, practice operations, and AI-based analysis on a single platform. Company research found that fragmented systems and decision fatigue are contributing to as much as AUD $35 billion in unrealised growth for Australian SMBs. It also found that 70% of accounting firms are struggling with capacity, while 83% of accountants are already using AI.
Regional push
The hire reflects a broader push to deepen Intuit's presence in APAC. The company aims to tailor its global products more closely to local business conditions, rather than relying mainly on regional adaptations of products built elsewhere.
That is significant in markets where businesses face a mix of tax, compliance and operational complexity, often across disconnected software tools. Intuit is shaping its product strategy around reducing that burden for smaller companies and mid-market firms.
Suzy Nicoletti outlined the company's view of Miles's role in that effort.
"As we deepen our investment across APAC, Matthew brings an invaluable understanding of how to scale international platforms in complex regulatory environments. Our customers across Australia and Asia Pacific count on QuickBooks and Mailchimp as true growth engines for their businesses. I'm confident Matt will help us make our platform even more essential to their success," said Nicoletti, Regional Vice President, Intuit APAC.
Product focus
The appointment also brings in an executive with direct experience at one of Intuit's best-known rivals in cloud accounting software. Xero and Intuit compete for small-business customers, accountants, and bookkeepers in Australia and other markets across the region.
Miles's brief covers product vision for APAC, with an emphasis on applying Intuit's core artificial intelligence and platform systems to local use cases. That includes businesses managing compliance demands, financial administration and fragmented workflows.
In his comments, Miles pointed to the impact these products can have on the day-to-day work of business owners and accountants.
"What continues to inspire me about this space is simple: when you get it right, you get to make a real impact on people's lives. The small business owner who gets to spend nights with their family instead of doing their books. The accountant who can grow their practice because the manual work is taken care of. Intuit is building a truly differentiated platform that doesn't just simplify work. It brings together financials, customer growth, and AI in a way SMBs have never had access to before. Not just systems of record, but systems of intelligence and action. That's where I believe the next frontier of product lies, and I'm excited to help lead that work across APAC," said Miles.
