Legora has raised a US$550 million Series E round at a US$8.8 billion valuation, led by Atreides Management.

Australian venture firm Airtree also participated, adding to its earlier backing of the legal technology company in March 2026, when Legora was valued at US$5.6 billion.

The fundraising comes as Legora expands across Asia-Pacific, where Sydney has become its largest office in the region. The office has grown to more than 60 people over the past 12 months and supports law firms and in-house legal teams across Australia and New Zealand.

Legora expects its Asia-Pacific headcount to exceed 100 by the end of 2026. It also has regional offices in Singapore, Bengaluru, Tokyo and Seoul.

Growth figures

Annual recurring revenue rose from US$1 million to US$100 million in less than 18 months, then increased by a further US$100 million in under six months. It now stands at more than US$200 million.

In-house legal teams accounted for more than 40% of new customers in the third quarter, up from only a small share of the customer base a year earlier. Legora said its software is now used by more than 140,000 legal professionals at more than 2,400 law firms and in-house legal teams across more than 80 markets.

Founded in 2023, the company launched its platform in October 2024 and now employs more than 1,000 people across 18 offices.

Australian expansion

Heather Paterson, VP of Legora APJ, said the fresh capital would support further hiring in the region.

“The most ambitious law firms and in-house legal teams in Australia are using AI to rethink how their practice works, and we're working alongside them as they do it. That takes a special kind of team, so we're hiring the best people we can find from law firms, consulting firms and beyond. This round means we can keep building that team here, so customers are supported by people who know their market,” Paterson said.

Airtree said its follow-on investment reflected Legora's pace of expansion and traction in the local market.

“It's rare to see a company scale as quickly as Legora while maintaining such a high bar for talent, product and execution. The opportunity ahead is enormous, and we're seeing that play out right here in Australia. We're excited to deepen our investment and support Max and the team as they continue to grow their team and customer base across Australia and Asia-Pacific,” said Elicia McDonald, Chief Executive Officer and Partner at Airtree.

Investor backing

New investors in the round included Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners and J.P. Morgan. All major existing investors also participated.

The funding will support further international expansion and investment in Legora's operating system for legal professionals, including agentic intake, horizon scanning and legal research.

Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Max Junestrand said the company sees a broad market opening in legal services as AI tools take on more multi-step tasks.

“The opportunity in legal is enormous and we are still early. AI is changing the role of the lawyer, with more time for judgement and advice, and it is reshaping how law firms and in-house legal teams are organised and how their work gets done. We intend to lead that shift in the US and globally. We chose investors who share our long-term view and know what it takes to build a lasting company. They are the right partners for the years ahead,” Junestrand said.
