Payoneer opens Gurugram innovation hub for global tech
Wed, 15th Jul 2026 (Today)
Payoneer has opened an innovation hub in Gurugram that will serve as a centre for technology development and business operations.
The office houses teams across engineering, go-to-market functions and workforce management, and is expected to grow as Payoneer expands its investment in India.
The move gives India a larger role in Payoneer's product and technology work. The Gurugram base brings together engineering, product, data, AI, compliance technology, commercial and operational staff in one location.
The hub will help develop tools and systems used across Payoneer's marketplace payouts business, while also supporting cross-border payments and operational requirements for companies in India and other markets.
India focus
India has become a growing priority for international financial technology groups seeking engineering talent and access to a fast-expanding business market. Payoneer's expansion in Gurugram reflects both factors, as well as the ability to work across time zones with teams in other regions.
Indian entrepreneurs and businesses are increasingly operating across multiple markets, currencies and regulatory systems, creating demand for financial services tailored to cross-border trade.
That backdrop has prompted Payoneer to deepen its local presence. Its in-principle authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India to operate as a Payment Aggregator, together with acquisitions including Skuad, now branded Payoneer Workforce Management, has strengthened its position in the country.
The Gurugram office also expands Payoneer's role in India beyond local sales and operations. The site will be used for global platform work, particularly in areas linked to AI, financial services and workforce management.
Oren Ryngler, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Payoneer, outlined that approach in remarks on the opening.
"India is central to how we're building Payoneer's future. As we work towards becoming an AI-native company, the work happening in Gurugram will directly shape our global platform. This hub is where we're building key capabilities for our enterprise marketplace clients, financial services and workforce management, and expanding the next generation of our core capabilities. Gurugram is central to our worldwide innovation strategy, not a support site, and I'm excited about what our teams will build here," said Oren Ryngler, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Payoneer.
Talent and operations
Gurugram has emerged as one of India's main corporate and technology centres, attracting domestic and multinational groups in software, financial services and business operations. For companies with global product teams, the city offers access to engineers and data specialists and proximity to the wider National Capital Region business ecosystem.
The new hub will support continuous product development across time zones. That operating model is increasingly common among global technology companies, spreading product, engineering and compliance work across multiple regions.
Payoneer's comments also point to a broader shift in how multinationals use Indian offices. Rather than functioning only as back-office centres, such sites are increasingly being given responsibility for product design, platform engineering and customer-facing technology.
Gaurav Gupta, SVP and Platform Site Leader - India at Payoneer, said the local market and labour pool made India important to the group's wider plans.
"India is both a critical growth market and where we're building core platform capabilities that serve our customers globally. India today combines one of the world's deepest pools of fintech and AI engineering talent, making it uniquely positioned for this moment as AI moves from experimentation to enterprise deployment. We're attracting elite AI and engineering experts here to solve complex problems at scale, allowing us to stay close to our customers while accelerating innovation for businesses around the world," said Gaurav Gupta, SVP and Platform Site Leader - India at Payoneer.
Payoneer provides cross-border payments and financial services for businesses that trade internationally, with a particular focus on companies in emerging markets. The Gurugram expansion underlines India's growing importance to both the company's regional business and its broader technology operations.
