SEI has agreed to integrate with Intercontinental Exchange's ICE ETF Hub, covering its exchange-traded product order management operations.

The agreement links SEI's services for exchange-traded product issuers with ICE's primary market workflow platform, including the creation and redemption process used across asset classes.

SEI said the integration will provide the issuers it serves with standardised connectivity and automated order management. The arrangement is intended to support rising asset levels and trading volumes in the exchange-traded product market.

According to the companies, ICE ETF Hub connects more than 250 issuers and more than 55 authorised participants and market makers. It also supports more than 1,800 exchange-traded products and had processed more than USD $5 trillion in cumulative notional volume by the second quarter of 2026.

The agreement comes as service providers and market infrastructure groups seek to streamline the operational side of exchange-traded funds and other exchange-traded products, where creation and redemption orders require coordination between issuers, market makers and authorised participants.

For SEI, the arrangement is part of a broader push to expand its exchange-traded product servicing business within its investment managers division. It manages, advises or administers about USD $2.1 trillion in assets.

Sean Lawlor, Head of Public Markets for SEI's Investment Managers business, outlined the company's rationale for the move.

"As the ETP market continues to expand, issuers need servicing partners with the infrastructure and expertise to support growth and scale. Our integration with ICE ETF Hub strengthens the operational foundation of our ETP solutions and supports our long-term ETP strategy, giving us the scalability to respond to expanding ETP assets, increased trading volumes, evolving industry standards, and future market innovation. This allows us to continue investing in the differentiated capabilities, servicing excellence, and innovation that help our clients succeed in a highly competitive marketplace," Lawlor said.

Market plumbing

ETF and broader ETP creation and redemption activity sits at the centre of the primary market process, allowing issuers to add or remove units in response to investor demand. The process has grown in importance as the number of listed products has increased and trading has spread across a wider range of asset classes.

By using a shared workflow platform, firms can reduce the number of manual steps involved in processing orders and communicating between market participants. ICE ETF Hub is designed to improve collaboration across the ETP ecosystem through a common connectivity model, according to the companies.

Intercontinental Exchange has built the hub as part of its wider fixed income and market services operations. The platform is intended to simplify creation and redemption workflows for exchange-traded products across numerous asset classes.

Peter Borstelmann, President of ICE Bonds at Intercontinental Exchange, commented on the agreement.

"We're pleased to support SEI as it enhances its ETP servicing infrastructure and continues to scale its capabilities for investment managers. By bringing greater automation, standardisation, and connectivity to ETP primary market workflows, ICE ETF Hub helps firms reduce operational complexity, manage liquidity, and improve efficiencies across the ETP ecosystem," Borstelmann said.

The tie-up adds another user to ICE ETF Hub at a time when infrastructure providers are competing to become the standard operating layer behind ETF issuance and servicing. Scale matters in these networks because issuers, authorised participants and market makers often prefer systems that already connect a large share of counterparties.

For SEI, the immediate effect is to place its order management process on a platform already used across a broad section of the exchange-traded product market. For ICE, the agreement extends the reach of ETF Hub to another service provider working with investment managers and issuers.
