SonicWall launches SonicSentry MXDR for managed service providers

Mon, 31st Mar 2025

SonicWall has launched SonicSentry MXDR, a new managed detection and response service aimed at supporting managed service providers (MSPs) in protecting clients across their entire digital infrastructure.

The service combines enterprise-grade protection for networks, endpoints and cloud environments, all underpinned by 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC) and Network Operations Centre (NOC) support.

According to SonicWall, this allows MSPs to offer stronger, more proactive cybersecurity services without needing to build their own in-house capabilities.

"SonicWall has always been committed to delivering cost-effective, enterprise-level security solutions to small businesses, which are increasingly targeted by sophisticated cyberattacks," said SonicWall President and CEO Bob VanKirk. "That can only be accomplished by having the right people armed with the right tools."

"Our broad portfolio of solutions is now enhanced through our partnership with industry leading solutions like those from CrowdStrike."

VanKirk added: "With CrowdStrike, we are ensuring that our SMB customers, and the partners who support them, have access to best-in-class endpoint protection."

"This effectively extends the bench of our MSP partners and meets them on their services journey to deliver stronger, more proactive security services while giving customers the confidence that their businesses are protected against cyber threats that were once a concern only for large corporations."

The SonicSentry MXDR service includes individual offerings for MDR (managed detection and response), MDR for cloud, and MDR for network.

These can be purchased separately with no long-term contracts or minimum commitments.

The solution is designed to integrate endpoint, network and cloud security, enhanced by expert monitoring and the AI-powered threat detection capabilities of the CrowdStrike Falcon® platform.

CrowdStrike chief business officer Daniel Bernard said: "MSPs face mounting challenges – managing complex and oftentimes subpar – security stacks, countering evolving threats, and securing SMBs with limited resources.

"Through our SonicWall partnership, we're simplifying security, enhancing threat protection, and enabling MSPs to focus on what matters most — keeping their customers secure and helping SMBs thrive in an increasingly digital world."

SonicWall noted that most small and medium-sized businesses depend on MSPs for both IT and cybersecurity support.

However, many MSPs lack access to the kind of continuous monitoring and threat response capabilities found in fully staffed SOC and NOC operations.

SonicWall Vice President of Sales for APJ, Debasish Mukherjee, said MSPs in the Asia-Pacific and Japan region are particularly impacted.

"MSPs across the world, especially in APJ, are under immense pressure to safeguard against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, often with limited resources," Mukherjee said.

"SonicSentry MXDR gives them the enterprise-grade security, AI-driven threat detection, and 24/7 support needed to close this gap. By simplifying security operations and reducing response times, we're enabling MSPs to strengthen their cybersecurity offerings and help businesses in the region stay resilient against evolving threats."

The company is also offering additional incentives for users of SonicSentry services who combine them with SonicWall firewalls and Cloud Threat Analytics. These customers are eligible for a cyber warranty and discounted, flat-rate cyber insurance, managed through a partnership with Cysurance.

Coverage levels include US$500,000 for MDR users with firewall and Cloud Threat Analytics, rising to US$1 million for those also using Cloud Email Security, provided best-practice controls are in place.

SonicWall partner Nick Sabatini, Vice President of Managed Services at Ubeo, said the service adds value for MSPs.

"SonicSentry is a great way for MSPs to differentiate themselves from their competitors," Sabatini said.

"The SonicSentry SOC becomes an extension of your team as an MSP, allowing you to provide immediate threat mitigation for your clients without having to go to the expense of building your own SOC."
