Zeus appoints first CTO to lead AI strategy expansion
Digital freight company Zeus has announced the appointment of Jan Riethmayer as its first Chief Technology Officer.
Riethmayer will be responsible for steering the company's global AI strategy and expanding its AI logistics product, Zeus Command AI, into new international markets such as the United States and India. This effort is part of Zeus' broader goal to advance AI adoption across the digital freight industry.
A veteran entrepreneur, Riethmayer previously founded the digital freight forwarder and logistics platform Zencargo. He brings over ten years of experience in scaling technology teams that focus on AI-driven logistics solutions. At Zeus, his role will centre on enhancing the Zeus Command AI product and assisting businesses as they navigate the challenges of modern supply chains.
"Logistics is the backbone of global trade, and AI presents a powerful opportunity to support the people who keep it moving," said Jan Riethmayer, Chief Technology Officer. "At Zeus, our goal is to develop technology that empowers decision-makers and operation teams driving efficiency, delivering real ROI, and simplifying AI adoption for supply chain leaders."
Riethmayer expressed enthusiasm about joining Zeus during this period of growth. "Zeus is at a pivotal stage of growth, and I'm excited to help our customers harness AI to solve real-world logistics challenges. By making advanced technology more accessible, we can enable businesses to optimise their supply chains, improve resilience, and stay ahead in an increasingly dynamic industry."
The creation of the CTO position comes after a lucrative period for Zeus, highlighted by the successful launch of Zeus Command AI. Notably, the product was rolled out with Apollo Tyres, a significant player in tyre manufacturing, initially across Europe with subsequent expansion into India.
Zeus was established with the aim of modernising the traditional freight sector, and it has grown rapidly to become a leading digital freight management company in Europe. The first to adopt AI-powered logistics solutions fully, Zeus has reported a 238% revenue increase since the introduction of Zeus Command AI.
The Zeus Command AI serves as a comprehensive software solution for freight management, incorporating AI and machine learning to automate key logistics processes. These include slot management, freight rate negotiation, and live route tracking, and it works in conjunction with the Zeus Driver app for detailed fleet monitoring.
Clemente Theotokis, Co-Founder and Joint Managing Director at Zeus, commented on the appointment. "My co-founder Jai and I have always believed in building a company that doesn't just keep up with the pace of change, but instead sets the standard for what's next. To do that, we need extraordinary leaders who share our vision and have the experience to bring it to life."
Theotokis further highlighted Riethmayer's alignment with the company's objectives. "Jan's expertise in scaling organisations, driving innovation, and leading high-performing teams perfectly aligns with our commitment to revolutionising technology, expanding our global impact, and fostering a culture of creativity and excellence. With Jan at the helm of our tech strategy, we're ready to tackle ambitious challenges and shape the future of Zeus."
Zeus' second product, Zeus Connect, offers a sustainable freight transport solution that aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions. Utilising proprietary technology, it measures and reduces empty miles, promotes the use of environmentally friendly transportation methods, and offers emission reporting, which is in line with the standards of the Global Logistics Emissions Council.
Currently, Zeus provides its freight management solutions to over 60 major enterprise customers, including P&G, Whirlpool, Decathlon, St Pierre, and Wickes, across 14 countries in Europe and India.
