Ishan Technologies has selected Oracle Communications for a digital transformation programme centred on modernising its charging and billing systems.

The aim is to create a single digital backbone as the Indian company expands across connectivity, cybersecurity, cloud and smart city operations.

The work will cover monetisation, billing and operational processes across Ishan Technologies' portfolio. The overhaul is expected to support faster launches of new services, more flexible pricing and discount structures, and changes to customer account management and internal operations.

Ishan Technologies operates more than 100,000km of fibre and serves enterprise, government and retail customers across India. It has been expanding beyond telecom services into a broader digital infrastructure model that combines network services with cloud, security and managed platforms.

Under the agreement, Oracle Communications is providing Oracle Cloud Scale Monetization and Oracle Unified Operations. The products are designed to link charging and billing with order orchestration, inventory and service fulfilment, giving Ishan Technologies a common system to manage the full service lifecycle.

The programme is intended to support newer connectivity offerings under one structure, including data networks, cloud interconnect, MPLS, secure access service edge and bandwidth-on-demand. It also includes integration with network monitoring and management tools, which should improve visibility across services and network assets.

Another part of the deployment focuses on fault management. Oracle said machine learning tools for root cause analysis would help operations teams identify service issues, rank their importance and resolve them more quickly.

Billing overhaul

Billing and monetisation appear to be central to the project. Ishan Technologies said the updated platform would help reduce custom development, improve billing accuracy and shorten the time needed to launch new services.

The system is also designed to handle both prepaid and postpaid rating through a single calculation function. According to the companies, it can support discounts, billing adjustments and campaign-based pricing, along with more complex enterprise billing structures such as multi-organisation billing, enterprise hierarchies, single-bill models and cross-line-of-business discounts.

Payment and collections functions are also due to be integrated across digital channels using TM Forum application programming interfaces. That could be important for a company seeking to unify customer interactions across several service categories, rather than running separate back-office systems for each line of business.

Aarav Solutions is the delivery partner for the work, selected for its Oracle Communications implementation experience. The announcement did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

Growth plans

The project comes as service providers and ICT groups face pressure to simplify systems while responding more quickly to customer demand. For Ishan Technologies, which is expanding beyond core connectivity into cloud, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure services, that means managing a broader mix of products and pricing models without adding operational complexity.

Pinkesh Kotecha, CMD of Ishan Technologies, described the move as an important step in the company's wider shift.

"Partnering with Oracle Communications marks a significant milestone for Ishan Technologies," Kotecha said. "This initiative gives us an integrated monetization foundation and flexibility for complex business models, enabling us to develop solutions tailored to evolving customer demands, boost operational efficiency, and accelerate our journey towards full digitalization. Most importantly, it reflects our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with exceptional digital experiences."

Oracle positioned the deal as part of a broader shift among service providers towards more automated digital platforms.

"As service providers face increasing competition and disruption, they're turning to real-time, scalable digital platforms to simplify and automate business operations," said Andrew Morawski, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Applications, Regulated Industries, Oracle. "Innovative operators like Ishan Technologies are leading the way in creating connected digital experiences that respond to customer expectations and market demands."
