Stäubli has announced a USD $10 million expansion of its manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, increasing local production of solar photovoltaic connectors for the Indian market and for export.
The group said the upgraded site will produce its MC4-Evo1 and MC4-Evo2 connectors. The company described these parts as components that connect solar modules to inverters and other balance-of-system equipment.
Stäubli said the investment forms part of its approach to local manufacturing in India. The company also linked the project to the 'Make in India' programme.
Gerald Vogt, Chief Executive Officer, Stäubli Group, said India holds a central place in the company's manufacturing plans.
"India is a key pillar in Stäubli's global growth and manufacturing strategy," said Gerald Vogt, Chief Executive Officer, Stäubli Group. "This investment strengthens our global supply capabilities and enables us to support customers worldwide with reliable, high-performance PV connector solutions produced to the highest quality and sustainability standards."
The company pointed to expanding solar deployment across India and said this had increased demand for locally manufactured components. Stäubli said the enlarged Bengaluru site will raise production volumes.
It also said the project will reduce lead times for customers in the solar supply chain. The company said it expects the expansion to improve supply chain resilience for original equipment manufacturers, engineering, procurement and construction firms, and asset owners.
Production plans
Stäubli said the expanded facility will include automated assembly lines for the two connector models. It also said the site will add quality assurance systems dedicated to the same product range.
The company said the plant uses automation and energy-efficient manufacturing processes. It also said the facility operates as a zero-discharge site and follows environmental standards set by the company.
Stäubli also outlined a wider operational role for the Bengaluru plant inside its global network. The company said the facility will supply both existing and emerging markets as renewable energy adoption rises.
India footprint
Stäubli said it serves customers across several Indian regions including Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chennai, and Karnataka. The company said this footprint reflects its position in the renewable energy ecosystem.
Gurupad Bhat, Managing Director, Stäubli Tec Systems India, linked the expansion to manufacturing and workforce plans.
"This expansion underscores our long-term commitment to India's renewable energy journey," said Gurupad Bhat, Managing Director, Stäubli Tec Systems India. "By strengthening local manufacturing, engineering, and skill development, we are supporting the solar ecosystem with globally benchmarked solutions while contributing to job creation and industrial growth."
Stäubli said the expansion includes a local vendor development initiative. The company said this will strengthen backward integration in India's renewable energy manufacturing supply chain.
Business lines
Stäubli operates across four divisions: Electrical Connectors, Fluid Connectors, Robotics and Textile. The group said it works with customers across a range of industrial sectors.
Stäubli said it operates in 28 countries and uses agents in 50 countries across four continents. It also said it employs 6,000 people worldwide and that its headquarters sit in Pfäffikon, Switzerland.
In India, Stäubli Tec Systems India is based in Bengaluru and also has a branch in Gurgaon. The company said its Indian business focuses on Electrical Connectors, Fluid Connectors and Robotics, and serves sectors that include automotive, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, railways, plastics, aerospace and alternative fuels.
Stäubli said the expanded Bengaluru facility will commence production in January 2026.
