Teradata launches AI Services to help firms achieve real ROI
Teradata has introduced AI Services, a new set of offerings devised to assist organisations in moving artificial intelligence initiatives from pilot phases into production-ready systems that deliver identifiable business results.
The offering combines expert consultancy, sprint-based deployment, and Teradata's AI toolset to address a persistent challenge in the enterprise sector: while investment in AI is substantial, with billions spent globally, research suggests as many as 95% of enterprise AI pilots do not progress to full production.
The failures are attributed not to technological hurdles, but to poor prioritisation, inconsistent governance, and difficulties in execution.
According to company data, 96% of organisations experience complications with data fragmentation and lack consistent access to the trusted data needed for reliable AI outcomes. Additionally, there is evidence of resource allocation disparities - described by MIT researchers as "the GenAI Divide" - where investment is directed at high-profile use cases while equally viable, high-ROI back-office opportunities are overlooked.
Teradata AI Services aim to address these issues by deploying specialist teams who guide organisations through the process of use case selection, governance, and data integration. This approach is supported by a sprint-based delivery model, allowing for iterative development and deployment of AI 'agentic' systems that are tailored to operate within particular business contexts.
Michael Hutchinson, Chief Operating Officer, Teradata, said:
"The pace of AI innovation has accelerated to the point where companies are essentially reinventing themselves quarterly. Businesses need expert guidance on how to use AI effectively-not just acquire it. Teradata AI Services help organisations realise value by prioritising high-impact activation, deploying at scale through reusable data products, and monetising their AI investments with measurable outcomes."
Teradata states that the AI Services are applicable across a variety of industries and AI maturity levels.
The approach is underpinned by Teradata's Customer Intelligence Framework, incorporating decades of sector-specific insights into reusable data products, AI models, and automated agents. This methodology is designed to ensure that solutions are relevant and adaptable to an organisation's particular operational circumstances, whether in banking compliance, healthcare image analysis, or customer engagement optimisation.
Engagement structure
The services are organised across three layers that may be utilised according to a client's stage of AI maturity. The first layer, AI Activation, focuses on building the core analytics ecosystem, including the deployment of Teradata's MCP Server, Enterprise Vector Store, and AgentBuilder, as well as modernising data pipelines and models for broader usability. The second, AI Value Realisation, leverages sprint-based deployments to bring applications into production, utilising tools such as Vantage Customer Experience (VCX) and Customer Interaction Manager (CIM). This phase is specifically results-driven, intended to demonstrate measurable business value through continuous improvement. The third layer, AI Sustainment, ensures ongoing management and operational relevance of AI models as technology and business needs evolve.
An important aspect of the service is the ability to track key performance indicators, including return on investment (ROI), automation rates, error reduction, and agent reliability. Clients can select from a flexible, tiered engagement model that accommodates various budget levels and regulatory environments, from remote teams to fully localised support, depending on data access or compliance requirements. The use of reusable data products allows for more rapid expansion across multiple use cases and industry verticals, aiming to aggregate value over time.
Deployment and availability
Teradata AI Services are available for immediate deployment across all regions and support both cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure. The offering is bundled with consultancy and implementation by Teradata's expert team, with pricing structured on a case-by-case basis. The company will continue to introduce new features as part of its evolving AI tools suite.
