TransferMate has partnered with Serrala to embed global payments into Serrala's finance automation platform, giving Serrala access to TransferMate as its exclusive payments partner.

The integration will allow Serrala customers to initiate and process payments within existing finance workflows through an application programming interface connection, rather than moving between separate bank portals. Serrala's customer base includes more than 2,800 organisations operating across international payment environments.

The initial focus will be on payables. The set-up is designed to let finance teams manage cross-border payments within the same platform they use for treasury, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash application and working capital processes.

TransferMate said its network spans 100 licences, which it described as the world's largest regulated fintech payments infrastructure. Through that network, Serrala customers will be able to access payment rails, payment routing, foreign exchange execution and local settlement from within the finance software.

The tie-up reflects a broader push across financial software to bring payment execution closer to back-office processes. For finance teams dealing with suppliers in multiple countries, using a single provider can reduce reliance on a patchwork of banking portals and manual hand-offs between systems.

The trend has gathered pace as companies seek tighter control over cash movements and clearer oversight of international payables. Embedding payments into finance platforms also gives software providers a way to expand beyond workflow management into transaction services.

Gary Conroy, President and Chief Commercial Officer at TransferMate, said the partnership aimed to meet finance departments' demand for simpler cross-border processes.

"Finance teams are under increasing pressure to simplify processes, improve visibility and operate more efficiently across borders," said Gary Conroy, President and Chief Commercial Officer at TransferMate. "Our partnership with Serrala brings payments directly into the financial workflows where those decisions are already being made. By combining Serrala's expertise in finance automation with TransferMate's global payments infrastructure, we can help enterprises streamline international payables, improve the supplier experience and gain greater control over their global payments."

For Serrala, the agreement extends its product offering further into payments. The partnership is intended to give customers an end-to-end process from finance automation through to payment execution within a single platform.

Jan Bakker, Senior Vice President of Payments at Serrala, said customers were increasingly looking for connected payment processes rather than separate systems.

"Payments are a critical part of the finance process, and our customers increasingly expect those processes to be connected, automated and easy to manage," said Jan Bakker, Senior Vice President of Payments at Serrala. "By partnering with TransferMate, we can extend our automation capabilities into global payments and give customers a more seamless way to manage international payables. Together, we are helping finance teams reduce complexity while improving speed, transparency and control."

The agreement also gives TransferMate a route into companies already using Serrala across a range of finance functions. That could help the Irish payments group deepen its presence in the office of the Chief Financial Officer, where software and payments providers are competing to become part of day-to-day finance operations.

Exclusive partnerships of this kind can also shape how payment services are distributed in business software. By securing a single-provider relationship, Serrala can offer a unified payments layer across its platform, while TransferMate gains direct access to a base of multinational finance users through embedded distribution.

The collaboration starts with international payables, placing payment execution inside a platform already used by more than 2,800 organisations.
