Visa has introduced a three-tier Visa Infinite card portfolio in India, adding Visa Infinite Privilege and Visa Infinite Private to the existing Visa Infinite offering.

The move expands what was previously a single premium card tier into a broader suite aimed at different segments of affluent consumers. The portfolio is built around travel, dining, lifestyle, wellness and concierge services, with each tier offering a distinct set of benefits.

At the base level, Visa Infinite will focus on everyday premium value alongside travel and lifestyle rewards. Visa Infinite Privilege sits above it, offering broader access and more tailored experiences, while Visa Infinite Private is an invitation-only card for ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

The top tier will offer bespoke services and access to more exclusive experiences. Across the wider portfolio, Visa is also highlighting payments-related features including higher transaction limits, smart authorisation, cross-border issuance and security measures.

The refresh comes as Visa points to shifts in India's affluent consumer market. Its India Affluent Economy 2025-2026 Whitepaper found that the number of people in the country earning more than ₹10 lakh a year had risen from 69 lakh to 1.3 crore in recent years.

That growth is not limited to the largest cities. The research also found that affluence in India is increasingly defined by demand for access, convenience and personalised experiences rather than traditional markers of luxury.

The whitepaper also found that seven in 10 affluent consumers are seeking bespoke and exclusive offerings. That helps explain why card issuers and payments firms are paying closer attention to premium card products linked to travel, dining and lifestyle access, rather than relying only on reward points or status branding.

Premium shift

India has become an increasingly important market for premium consumer finance as spending by wealthier households expands into newer categories. Travel, hospitality, wellness and curated leisure services have become more central to how issuers position their high-end products.

For global payments networks such as Visa, premium card ranges can serve both as a source of transaction volume and as a way to deepen relationships with issuing banks and affluent cardholders. The structure announced in India reflects a wider industry trend towards more segmented premium offerings designed to match different spending profiles and service expectations.

Rishi Chhabra, Country Manager, India, Visa, said the company had reshaped the portfolio around the habits and expectations of wealthier consumers in the market.

"Visa has long played a defining role in shaping the world of premium payments and affluent lifestyles, connecting consumers to experiences, privileges, and unparalleled acceptance across the globe," said Rishi Chhabra, Country Manager, India, Visa.

"The refreshed Visa Infinite portfolio builds on this leadership and has been shaped by a clear understanding of India's affluent consumers - their global identity, need for hyper-personalization and customized offerings, and expectations of premium propositions that are intuitive, relevant, and connected to their lives. With Visa Infinite, Visa Infinite Privilege, and Visa Infinite Private, we are introducing a more refined and layered approach to the premium card experience in India. By combining elevated lifestyle benefits, seamless travel experiences, bespoke concierge services tailored to this discerning customer profile, and the strength of Visa's partner ecosystem, the portfolio is designed to deliver meaningful value across the diverse expressions of affluence."

Experience focus

A central part of the revised proposition is its emphasis on access to experiences linked to consumer interests. The card suite will connect users to programmes in areas including food and travel, reflecting how affluent spending is increasingly centred on activities and personalised access.

Among the programmes Visa highlighted are Infinite Tastes: Beyond the Menu, a chef-led culinary initiative focused on dining culture across Asia Pacific, including India, and Visa Destinations, a travel platform offering selected journeys and access opportunities.

These additions highlight how premium cards are evolving from financial products into bundled service offerings. Issuers are increasingly using curated events, dining access, airport benefits, concierge services and travel privileges to distinguish cards in a crowded upper-end market.

India's affluent consumer base has also become more geographically diverse, with implications for how global networks and local issuers build products. As wealth grows outside the largest metropolitan areas, companies are likely to look for card structures that can be offered at multiple premium levels while still reserving the highest-touch services for a smaller segment.

For Visa, the revised suite offers a framework that partner issuers can use to target different affluent groups without relying on a single premium card design. That may give banks more flexibility in how they package benefits and position cards for customers whose spending and travel patterns vary widely.

Visa Infinite Private will remain invitation-only, making it the most exclusive part of the range.
