G+D unveils BPS C evo to enhance cash-handling efficiency

Today

Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) has launched the latest iteration of its banknote processing systems known as the BPS C evo.

The BPS C evo is engineered for bank branches, currency chests, and cash-in-transit companies, with a focus on customer feedback to enhance efficiency, security, reliability, and overall performance. Capable of processing up to 63,000 banknotes per hour, the BPS C evo series aims to assist commercial entities in streamlining operations, reducing costs, and maintaining a competitive edge.

The system supports diverse configurations, allowing it to be utilised effectively within small and medium currency chests and bank back offices. The primary objectives during its development were to meet the requirements for increased cash-handling efficiency, strengthened security, improved performance, and greater reliability in banknote counting, sorting, and authentication.

This launch is timely for India, where cash circulation has grown significantly, despite the surge in digital transactions. According to data from the Reserve Bank of India, cash in circulation has risen from INR ₹16.5 lakh crore in November 2016 to INR ₹34.7 lakh crore in September 2024.

"Our improved BPS C evo supports navigating today's fast-paced cash-handling environment, making cash operations more efficient," explains Erwin Leichtmann, Business Development Director in banknote processing at G+D. "With software-based enhancements and technical innovations, the BPS C evo represents a significant leap in performance, reinforcing G+D's role as a technology leader in banknote processing solutions for the commercial segment."

Underpinning these enhancements is a new Linux-based software platform which optimises operations digitally, streamlining task management and enhancing operational efficiency with adaptable control settings. A powerful processor, coupled with an optimised single and advanced transport mechanisms, contribute to increased throughput by reducing jams and rejections, thus bolstering performance levels.

Furthermore, enhanced security attributes are integrated into the BPS C evo, employing encrypted communication protocols and intelligent automation to ensure seamless and secure operations. Displays on the BPS C2 and BPS C5 models have been improved, featuring high-resolution screens of 7 inches and 10 inches, respectively, to deliver clearer information and prevent operational errors.

The user interface is designed for ease of use, reducing training time and errors through intuitive navigation, clear guidance, and optional automated software updates. These improvements contribute to a more reliable and user-friendly cash-handling experience.
